Terms and Conditions - Broadcasting Agency (BCA)
Please read carefully before making a booking.
If you have been given a casting and accepted it through Broadcasting Agency you must always be on time. If for any reason you are late or cannot make it due to unforseen circumstances you must always call Broadcasting Agency to let us know before you are due to be there, so that we can inform the client.
If you are with other agents and we contact you first about a potential job you may only accept the job through Broadcasting Agency.
When you have been booked on a job for Broadcasting Agency it is essential that you are punctual. If artists are persistantly late we have no alternative but to dispense of your services.
If you are unable to attend a job or if you are unavoidably delayed you must telephone the office immediateley so that the client can be informed and a replacement can be found. If it is after business hours you must call the production number you would have been given.
When you have accepted a provisional option (pencil) for a job it is imperative that you keep the date in question free. If you are offered any other bookings on any of BCA’s optioned dates from other companies you must come through to BCA before accepting. We will call the client immediately to find out whether BCA can confirm or release you from the option / pencil.
Always take along appropriate clothing as briefed by BCA or production company. Women should be prepared to do own make up unless otherwise stated. Artists should arrive clean and tidy.
You must not leave set at any time unless given permission to do so. You must not leave rubbish on set, only eat and smoke in designated areas. Do not take friends or pets with you.
If there are any problems during the working day please call the office so that we can deal with problems as they arise.
All fees are negotiated and confirmed at the time of each booking they may be subject to variation. You agree to authorise BCA to collect money on your behalf. We will not know of any upgrades until the final edit.
All accounts queries are dealt with by our bookkeepers rupert, who only works via email. please send all queries to the email address on email@example.com. they will endeavour to respond with 48 hours, he works two days per week for us so if you don’t hear straight back he will do so on his return. please do not call the agents to ask if payments have come in as they have no way to access this information and are only interested in getting you the work. If anyone attempts to call the client directly to chase their payments will be taken off the books effective immediately with all registration fees not refunded.
Please make sure you have as much information about the job that you are chasing payment for, so that we can deal with queries as promptly as possible. e.g.
- Date of job
- Name of product
You must keep all remittance advice slips as this is your proof of income for national insurance deductions. BCA is not responsible for the payment of tax or NI contributions on your behalf. You are not an employee of BCA but work on a self-employed bases. BCA invoices the client directly on your behalf and then pays you, we only act as the agent. If you do not provide us with an National Insurance number you will not be on the invoice. Most clients will deduct NI at source prior to payment to us. If no NI is deducted at source it is your responsibility to look after your own NI contributions. Please do not tell the DSS that you are an employee of Broadcasting Agency.
If you are not on Spotlight the only other tool we can use to submit you for work is our website links / lightboxes. We send shortlists via our website suggesting you the artist for work. We no longer produce a book to promote you. All promotional materials are via our own highly designed web based model cards. We send our clients a lightbox via our website of suitable actors / models for each job. We may ask you to come in for a photo session to put you on our website. This is totally optional. If you decide to do this the fee is £250 plus vat only for the first year, which includes a professional photoshoot arranged by ourselves to a very high standard. Broadcasting Agency reserve the right not to put people's personal photos on our site unless cleared through BCA.
Consecutively there is a yearly £175 plus VAT admin fee to be deducted out of future earnings to administer your profile unless told to us in writing 1 month prior to renewal. You do not have to come on our website to join Broadcasting but please bear in mind unless you are on Spotlight we will not have any tool to put you forward to our clients.
Note: 100% our photographic work comes in via our lightboxes / weblinks as does approximately 65% of our commercials. If we only represent you on Spotlight you are not going to receive as many casting as you might expect so this is not our fault.
Photos taken by BCA are for promotional purposes only. Copyright remains the property of BCA and cannot be sold or used by a third party without prior permission. We do encourage you to use these photos for your Spotlight page. if you remove us off of Spotlight for another agent then we reserve the right to ask you to remove those photos.
It is normal practice for BCA to view all release forms presented to you on a shoot prior to you signing. Do not sign artist release forms on set without our prior knowledge.
Please call the office the afternoon before your job to receive details.
Broadcasting Agency charges no joining fee.
Broadcasting Agency takes a commission of 25% on all equity contract tv commericials and repeat fees which is taken from all fees unless stated otherwise when a booking is confirmed. The fee quoted to you at the time of the booking is before deductions. We take 15% for TV and ilm work.
At the time of booking the model disbursement is included at 66.66% and the agents fee is 33.34% of the invoice total on all photographic work.
When you have completed work for Broadcasting Agency always call us with a finish time in case you are entitled to any overtime payments. If this is not done overtime may not be charged to the client and you will not then be paid the overtime.
Payment on commercials, corporate videos and pop promos take a minimum of ten weeks for monies to be paid to BCA. Photographic work takes a minimum of twelve weeks to be paid. Please be aware as of 2010 most advertising agencies are no longer on 30 day credit terms. If we have to invoice a production company they also need to wait to be paid first from their client the advertising agency.
Although all efforts are made by Broadcasting Agency to ensure payments are made on time, we cannot be held responsible for late payment made by our client. We are unable to pay artists until we have received payment ourselves.
Broadcasting Agency will endeavour to find you suitable work but can unfortunately not give any guarantee.
When accepting any bookings or castings through broadcasting you are agreeing to abide by the above terms of engagement. We reserve the right to change any of these terms or registration fees without prior notice. This is your copy to keep for reference we reserve the rights to change these Terms and Conditions.
